Through hands-on cooking experiences, youth learn family recipes, healthy eating habits, and the importance of nutrition. The program creates a fun and welcoming space where participants build life skills, connect with their roots, and gain pride in their culture while learning to make healthy food choices.

2025
Our Youth Cooking Event was a tremendous success, bringing together youth ages 6–17 for a fun and enriching day of culture, learning, and hands-on experiences. Guided by dedicated community aunties, participants began the day in our community garden harvesting fresh vegetables and learning about where food comes from before moving into the kitchen to prepare traditional African dishes including fish, chicken, beans, cassava leaves, fufu, turkey, and amaranth. The event gave youth the opportunity to learn traditional recipes, develop healthy eating habits, build practical life skills, and strengthen their connection to their cultural heritage. The day ended with the children proudly serving guests the meals they prepared, showcasing their hard work and creativity. This event not only celebrated culture and healthy living but also created meaningful memories and strengthened community connections.
