This weekend, local children ages 6 to 17 traded video games for vegetables, transforming a community kitchen into a lively culinary workshop.
Guided by devoted “aunties,” the young chefs rolled up their sleeves to prepare traditional dishes including fish, chicken, cassava leaves, beans, fufu, turkey, and amaranth.
The day began in the community garden, where the group harvested fresh produce before heading indoors to cook.
Parents cheered as the children plated and proudly presented meals to a crowd of supporters. Beyond cooking skills, the event emphasized teamwork, cultural traditions, and a deeper respect for where food comes from.
The program was made possible thanks to sponsorship from The Magic Cabinet, whose support helps foster community, culture, and youth empowerment.
With laughter, learning, and plenty of delicious food, the initiative left everyone hungry for the next gathering.
