As spring arrives, bringing warmer days and renewed energy, the Congolese Integration Network (CIN) is celebrating the return of gardening season through its ongoing Bilanga Project 2026, an initiative focused on community growth, food access, and climate resilience.
Supported by key partners, including the Port of Seattle, the project aims to address climate challenges while providing culturally meaningful foods for local families. Beyond gardening, the initiative serves as a platform for preserving traditions, sharing agricultural knowledge across generations, and developing sustainable solutions rooted in culture and community.
This spring, garden beds are coming back to life with a variety of crops, from leafy greens to vegetables that reflect the culinary heritage of participating families. Through hands-on participation, youth and families are learning practical skills, strengthening food sovereignty, and reconnecting with the land.
The Bilanga Project has also become a gathering place where community members plant, learn, and harvest together. By creating opportunities for collaboration and knowledge-sharing, the project helps reduce barriers to healthy food, promotes environmental stewardship, and amplifies voices often underrepresented in climate conversations.
As 2026 continues, CIN plans to expand the initiative’s reach by growing more food, engaging more families, and strengthening partnerships that support thriving communities. For organizers, each seed planted today represents a step toward a healthier and more resilient future. 🌱📰
