Youth Healing Circle Helps Newcomers Reconnect Through Self-Care

ree

A recent Youth Healing Circle offered a powerful moment of reflection and connection for newly arrived young people navigating life in a new country. Centered on the theme of self-care, the session invited participants to explore their identities, set personal goals, and recognize their strengths with the help of a guided self-care workbook.

The event also emphasized community building. Sharing a meal together helped create a sense of belonging, and many participants formed friendships that may extend well beyond the session.

Among the key outcomes were strengthened self-awareness, increased confidence, and a deeper understanding of personal resilience. Facilitators noted that identifying strengths is especially empowering for youth adjusting to new cultural expectations and unfamiliar surroundings.

Congolese Integration Network expressed gratitude to case manager and English teacher Nathalie, whose guidance helped shape the experience, as well as to everyone who contributed to the event’s success. They encouraged families and community members to stay engaged and to reach out for information about future youth circles designed to support identity, well-being, and connection.
